The re-grand opening will be Micky’s third - the first Grand Opening in 1990, the second in 2008 after a fire damaged the building and forced a closure for almost two years. A homeless encampment in the alley blocked the entrance and sheriff assistance was needed to remove the ‘living room’ in front of the back entrance. Two weeks ago Micky’s manager Adam Emarian went to the location. When Micky’s was forced to close in mid-March 2019, they were in the process of celebrating their 30th anniversary. Micky’s is also getting ready to open by June 1, owner Michael Niemeyer confirmed. The word on the street is that Motherlode will also re-open as early as May 14th. Construction has begun on an outzone for WeHo gay bar Trunks on Santa Monica Blvd. The excitement was in the air in front of Trunks as construction began on their “outzone” - curbside space repurposed as outdoor drinking and dining - with an expected opening in mid-May.
